Younger age groups lead the way for Carniny Youth sides

The younger age groups led the way for Carniny Youth Teams last weekend starting with the Under 11s who shaded a 6-5 win over Ballymena.

Also in the Lisburn League were the Under12 s who were in fine shooting form having a high scoring win over Chimney Corner.

In the NIBFA Subway National League the Under 16s had to settle for a share of the points away to Ridgeway Rovers, the Belfast club equalising in injury time in a 2-2 draw. The U14s and 15s lost out to Dungannon Utd and Larne Youth respectively.

The club’s U15s were delighted to take delivery of their new Subway sponsored playing kit last week.

Coach, Alex Rainey accepted the kit on behalf of the club from Subway Franchisee Jennie herald. The sponsorship deal is for all clubs at Under15 who play in the NIBFA Subway national League. By coincidence the strip is in the colours of Carniny’s partner club, Sunderland AFC Foundation of Light colours which happen to the same as Carniny’s; red and black.

UNDER-10

Carniny Youth 1, Ballycastle United 4: Despite defeat in their first taste of league football, David Wylie’s side will be eager to go again this week. Carniny’s goal came from Luke McCorriston.

Carniny Youth 6, BUYA 5: Carniny eventually came out in a thrilling ‘derby’ thanks to a hat-trick from Kennedy, Magee (2) and Greer in what was a great advert for youth football.

Carniny Youth 1, DUngannon United Youth 3: Carniny were two goals down but they gave themselves hope with five minutes to go when Scullion had his effort was saved and Anderson reacted quickest to finish from close range to make it 2-1. Carniny then pushed for an equaliser but were hit with a sucker punch when they failed to clear their lines.

Carniny Youth 0, Larne Youth 2: Carniny were undone by two second half goals despite a battling performance.

UNDER-16

Carniny Youth 2, Ridgeway Rovers 2: Carniny went ahead inside three minutes when McDonnell tapped home from a Carley cross but Rideway equalised after 15 minutes.

A second half goal from Evans looked to have secured victory for Carniny but Ridgeway equalised deep in injury time at the end of the game.

UNDER-19

Carniny Youth 3, Annagh United Youth 4: Carniny went in front following a free kick on the right McCormack headed home.

After 30 mins Carniny went two in front when Balmer scored from the penalty spot after Price was fouled but Annagh replied.

Price bundled the ball home to restore Carniny’s two goal lead but almost immediately Annagh scored from the penalty spot to leave the score 3-2 at half time.

Carniny paid for a poor second half performance as they conceded two goals.
