Four goal flourish as South Seconds beat their Thirds

South Antrim Ladies Seconds faced a familiar foe on Saturday in the form of the club's Thirds.

Perhaps expectedly, it was the Twos who ran out 4-0 winners in Junior Seven.

The Thirds got off to a good start with Laura MConnell testing the Twos’ defence but they came undone when Amy Wright drove at the Thirds back line and finished with aplomb.

Just before the half time whistle, Wright again found space in the circle and after seeing her initial shot saved, Lauren Boomer was on hand to bundle home.

The second half was more of an even affair, and while the Seconds expectedly dominated possession, the Thirds always looked dangerous on the break.

One excellent piece of play from Moore found McCandless free on the 25 with only the keeper to beat, but again the girls found the Seconds’ defence in good form and they managed to clear after a strong interception from Doyle.

As the chance slipped away, so did the match as a near immediate counter attack from the Twos, through Stewart, saw the forward finish confidently one on one

Often these games represent an opportunity for players in the junior team to show why they should be playing higher in the club, and the Thirds girls made some good arguments as the match wore on. One moment, when Ferris found Morrow in the circle only to see her shot wonderfully saved, showed again the strength through the club.

Heasley rounded off the scoring towards the end with another goal for the Seconds.

WThe club send a well done to Player of the Match Courtney Mills and thanks to Brian Wilson and Andrew Smylie for umpiring.
