As expected this was a close contest at Father Devlin Park with Cookstown managing to shade the verdict on a day when a couple of key decisions went against the home side.

Once in either half the home side thought they had scored a point but on both occasions the referee consulted with both umpires before deciding that they weren’t scores.

Cookstown were lively early on with Owen Mulligan, John Gilmore and Brian O’Neill helping them into a four point lead. They registered just once more in the opening period though as Donaghmore led at the break with Matthew McGahan, Dan Tone rand Deasun Quinn all pointing. Shea McGarrity and Conor Mullan got early second half points for the visitors but then McGahan got a seventh minute goal. Cookstown though pushed on and Mulligan, Shea McGarrity and Christopher Eastwood all got points as they emerged narrow winners.
