Lisnagarvey Ladies Firsts 2 Randalstown 1

‘Town were on the back of two wins in a row, whereas the newly promoted ‘Garvey hadn’t a point to their name going into the game.

However, it was difficult to tell from the first whistle which team was near the top and which was at the other end.

The first half saw the home side go one nil up after only three minutes with Eimear Faller setting up Captain Laura Johnston for the goal. Randalstown responded quickly with an equaliser, but it was a well taken Penalty Corner by Anne Christie in the 34th minute that put the Hillsborough girls in front just before half time.

The second half showed both teams having the balance of possession, but it was the work rate of the home side and the sheer determination that saw them through to their 2-1 victory and first league points of the season.

The girls take on Ulster Elks next and know that they mustn’t become complacent against this strong side.
