The game is the last of the quarter finals to be decided with Garvey starting as favourites especially on home territory.

They have had the best of results over their opponents in recent seasons in both Irish Cup and the Irish Hockey League and although they have not played a competitive match since their 8-0 win over Belfast Harlequins in late December, they should proceed to the semi final stage.

Garvey coach Errol Lutton is far from content with the series of fixtures which have not been fulfilled but the squad has been training hard and are more than keen to restart their season with a win on Saturday.

Cork will certainly not travel all the way just to make up the numbers but if Garvey start fast they should be too much for their Munster opponents.

The Garvey team should be at full strength with a number of players having recovered from niggling injuries thanks to the enforced lay off over the Christmas period.

The Cup match begins a very busy second half to the season with all competitions to be decided over the next three months and a win on Saturday would be the ideal start to their busy campaign.
