Gary Kelly to represent Ireland at British Isles Championships

The Ballymoney man won the final of the Under-25 section to book his place at the forth-coming British Isles Championships in Stanley in March.

Kelly is no stranger to success on the local, national and international stage.

In the Under25 signles final, Kelly faced Andi Duncan with Gary lifting the Irish title winning 21-10.

In the other sections, the rink of Steven Falls, Nigel Robinson, Derek Smith and Ian McClure and the pairing of Alistair Kennedy and Barry Kane lost out at the semi-final stage, however the rink of Brian Hughes, Christopher Brogan, Willie McCaw and Gary Kelly progressed to the final of the rinks. The rink played Andy Kyle’s four from Co Antrim but lost 13 – 17.

OPEN SINGLES TOURNAMENT

Entries are still being taken for the “Round Robin Open Singles Tournament” on 7th and 8th February 2015 with a £1600 prize fund.

It will be run under the same format as the Irish Short-Mat tour singles event. Entry fee is £20 and everyone is guaranteed six games in the round robin sections with players then progressing to different knockout stages.

The maximum number of entrants is 192, but places are filling up quickly.

BALLYCASTLE INDOOR BOWLING LEAGUE

The results for the Ballycastle Indoor Bowling League are as follows:

Ramonan Presbyterian 50 (7 points); St. Pat’s and St. Brigid’s 12 (0 points); Ballycastle Presbyterian 42 (6 points); Ramoan Parish 36 (1 point); St. Pat’s and St. Brigid’s 29 (1); Carey 51 (6 points).

This leaves Ramoan Presbyterian on top of the league table with 26 points after three games played. In second place is Ramoan Parish with 17 points and five games played.

In this place is Ballycastle Presbyterian on 15 points (4 games played), Carey sit in fourth with nine points after four games and St. Patrick’s and St. Brigid’s are on the bottom with nine points and five games played.

NORTH ANTRIM INDOOR BOWLING LEAGUE

The current standings in the North Antrim Indoor Bowling League are as follows:

Armoy Presbyterian have played 9 matches and have 42.5 points; Ballycastle Presbyterian have played 8 matches and have 27 points. Carey have played 8 matches and have 22.5 points.

Cushendall have also played 8 matches and are sitting with 32.5 points; Loughgeil have played 8 with 42 points; Ramoan have played 9 with 29.5 points.

St. Olcans have played 9 matches and have 26.5 points and St. Patrick’s & St. Brigid’s have also played 9 and have 15.5 points.

The Chest, Heart and Stroke Cup final will be played in St. Patrick’s and St. Brigid’s between Armoy Presbyterian and Ramoan.
