The winner of this competition will get the opportunity to partner the club professional in the Grand Final later in the season.

The winner, with a score of 42 points, was Gary McCormick, playing off an 11 handicap.

Gary’s golf game is red hot at the moment.

He won an 18 holes competition less than a month ago and he featured strongly in Banbridge’s Ulster Cup win over Lisburn.

He is a great supporter of the golf club and richly deserves his “Day Out” with Jason, the professional.

Kerry McCluskey (7) was runner-up with 41 points.

Kerry is a very modest man but he is without doubt one of the best single figure handicappers in the club.

Jamie Thompson (6) won the low section (0-9) with 40 points.

Jamie is one of the top juvenile players in the club and a key member of the Fred Daly team.

John Russell (10) was runner-up in the low section with 39 points.

It doesn’t seem that long ago when John, just like Jamie, was the number one player in the juvenile branch.

Could he not be persuaded to play on the Ulster Cup team?

Trevor Mulholland (14) won the middle section (10-14) with 41 points.

Dromore has produced some brilliant players over the years and Trevor is one of them.

Malcolm Hanna (13) was second in the middle section with 40 points.

Donald Doyle (23) won the high section (18+) with 40 points.

Donald was runner-up in the Bill McMaster Memorial two weeks ago. An outright victory must come sooner rather than later.

Philip Strong (22) was second in the high section with 40 points.

Philip and Donald would make a very strong partnership for the upcoming Junior Cowdy match which will be against Clones.

Vaughan Lamont (14) won the prize for best senior with 40 points.

Vaughan’s fourball hit off at 7am when the frost was still on the ground.

His score was brilliant under the conditions.

And, finally, birthday boy Rory Leonard (scr) won the best gross prize with a level par 69.

Now for the hard luck stories:

Joe Glass and Colin Dodds had 40 points.

Alan Caughey, Cecil Wilson, Brian Mulholland, Bobby Geddis, Alan Dale, John Lennon, Michael Gillen, Albert Morrison, Luke Woods, Gordon Haire, Peter Hillen and Robert Haire all came close with 39 points each.

But the man who deserves all the plaudits is the one and only Gary McCormick.

He did brilliantly.
