GOLF: Lavery tops the field at Carrickfergus GC

Trevor Lavery carded an outstanding 44 points to top the field at Saturday's Royal Oak Bogey Points competition at Carrickfergus Golf Club.

High handicap winners were David McCune (44 points), Ricky Coulter (39 points), Maurice Finlay (39 points) and Sam Millar (37 points).

Low handicap winners were John Moore (38 points), Willie Graham (37 points), Darren Wady (36 points and Noel Morrison (36 points).

Andrew Dillon won the Gross Prize with 35 points and Eddie Robinson, the Super Senior Prize with 38 points.

The club’s Pierce Purcell team qualified for the knockout stages of the competition and now meet Whitehead in the first round.

Elsewhere, the Holt Shield team had an excellent 4.5 - 0.5 win Kirkiston Castle.
