The weather at Silverwood was atrocious on Saturday with continuous rain for the most of the day and with the greens just barely playable and this reflected in the scoring.

In first place with 39 points was Thomas Farren, he had 21 points on his front nine with four pars at the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th holes, four bogeys at the 2nd, 3rd, 7th and 8th holes and a double bogey at the 9th hole. He had 18 points on the back seven holes with one birdie at the 13th, three pars at 10th, 12th and 18th holes, two bogeys at the 11th and 14th holes with a double bogey at the 15th.

In second place was Sean Ashe with 38 points and a one over par round of golf. On his front nine he had one birdie at the 1st hole, five pars at the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th and 9th holes, two bogeys at the 5th and 8th holes and a double bogey at the 2nd. His back seven consisted of two birdies at the 10th and 14th holes and five pars at the remaining holes.

In third place was Bill Geoghegan with 38 points, he had 20 points on his front nine with three pars at the 1st, 4th and 9th holes and six bogeys. His back seven contained one birdie at the 13th hole three pars at the 10th, 12th and 18th holes and three bogeys at the remaining holes.

The gross prize was collected by the consistent Fintan McAreavey with a level par 32 gross points. He had a front nine of two over with two birdies at the 1st and 4th holes, four pars at 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th holes, one bogey at the 5th hole and a double bogey at the 3rd hole. His back seven included two birdies at the 11th and 13th holes and five pars at the remaining holes for an excellent round given the conditions on the day.

There were four twos on the day and this week’s competition is a fourball scramble.
