This is always a nostalgic occasion but most enjoyable.

The competition could not have been any closer.

Sydney Pepper, the winner in 2013, scored 28 points over the 13 holes course but was beaten on countback by two former captains.

Felix Duffy also had 28 points and he must have thought that he had won it.

Not so. Bertie Shaw also came in with 28 points and his stronger finish ensured victory.

Bertie was delighted; as this was the first time he had won the Past Captain’s Trophy.
