Big turnout for Redcastle spring outing

THE Redcastle Spring outing took place Roe Valley was played in summer conditions with a 60 strong team of players fighting for the honours.

The winning score went to JK Doherty who played a stunning round of golf and carded a fantastic 42 points to lift the honnors; second place went to Ted Brolly after he scored 38 points and Martin Agnew with 37 points was third.

The gross prize went to W McClelland and the front nine was claimed by S Tinney who had the shot of the day with a hole in one at the difficult sixth par 3, while Jim Burns won the back nine.

While the Spring League went right to the wire with Alan O'Brien pipping Danny Moore to the title. While the Ulster 4 ball competition against Bushfoot GC will be on Sunday and will tee off from 12noon.

This week's competition is the Ulster Sports Trust and will be staged from Friday until Sunday, while all singles and doubles fees must be paid this week.

Meanwhile the Ladies played their first competition of the session, which was kindly sponsored by Portstewart Clothing Co, on Monday, April 12, in fine fantastic weather.

In first place was Helen Brady (32) after she scored 39 points, second was Audrey McGurk (30) after she carded 35 points Gill Eakin (32) claimed third place after a break of tie finish when she scored 34 points.

Next Monday's competition is the O2 & AIB qualifier and draw times or 10am, 5pm and 5.45pm.

Lady Captain Una would like to wish AA Team Captain Jennie and her team good luck with their away match in Ballymena on Friday April, and to Donegal Shield Team Captain Suzanne and her team with their match in Narin and Portnoo on Saturday.
