Birdie boy Burns wins close affair at Prehen

Brian Burns (9) took first place in the Sunday Society competition played over 10 holes at City of Derry with a highly commendable 25 points and a vital birdie on the last hole that edged Graham Hepburn (3) into second place on a count back.

Barry McCallion (12), Eamon McCourt (5), Paul Glackin (7) and John Chambers (6) all scored 23 points and after the countback finished in that order respectively.

While John Rosborough (9) the clubs captain in waiting was best of the day at Prehen in the ball sweep with 27 points over the weather shortened 11 hole course.

An impressive seven points over the first two holes gave him a great start and three pars over the last three holes finished the job in fine style.

Liam Flanagan (13) needed a favourable tie break to take the second prize, pushing Brendan Duffy (7) into third place.
