Cormac top of the hot scores

In first place with a nett 65 was Cormac Magee although he didn’t have a great start with a triple bogey at the first hole, but steadied his round with three pars, along with four bogeys a one double bogey for a front nine of 44.

His back nine of 47 contained two pars at the 10th and 13th holes, four bogeys and three double bogeys for his total of 91 nett 65 for a better back nine win.

In second place again with a nett 65 was David Sloan who had a front nine of 37 with one birdie at the 3rd , five pars and three bogeys. His back nine of 42 included four pars at the 10th 13th 17th and 18th holes, and five bogeys at the remaining holes.

In third place again with a nett 65 was Kieran McDonald, he had a front nine of 40 with a birdie at the 2nd hole for a share off the 2’s, six bogeys and three pars. His back nine of 45 contained three pars at the 10th 12th and 14th holes, four bogeys and two double bogeys.

The gross prize was won by James Noble with an excellent gross 71,.

James had been playing some great golf lately and this was his second sub-par round in three weeks. He had a great front nine of 33 with three birdies, one bogey and five pars. His back nine of one over 38 included one birdie at the 16th hole, two bogeys at the 10th and 12th holes, and six pars for this consistent golfer.

Fourth prize went to Neil Walker with a nett 66. Neil had a great front nine of 36 with two birdies at the 6th and 9th holes, six pars and one bogey. His back nine of 41 included one birdie at the 13th, four pars, three bogeys and one double bogey.

Fifth prize was picked up by Colin Quinn with a nett 67, he had a front nine of 37 with two bogeys and seven pars. His back nine of 39 contained two birdies at the 13th and 18th holes, five pars and two double bogeys.

The senior prize was won by Eamon McConaghy with a nett 69.

Section prizes were as follows:

0-12 Sean McStay nett 67; 13-18 John McCaffrey nett 68; 19-28 Daniel Mulholland nett 67.

The Senior’s had their latest Mid Ulster Seniors League outing at a very dull and sultry Dungannon last Monday. The course was in great condition and made for low scoring.

The Silverwood team did not disappoint and finished a very creditable fourth on the day.

This moves them up a further place in the table and with their own venue to come next the team is aiming for a realistic top four finish.

The best pairing on the day were the ever consistent Seamus Patton/Neil Walker combination with a wonderful 45 points.

The next best pairing were the old reliable’s Francis Kelly and Brian Brady with 43 points and with the last two pairings on 39 points each, the team total was 127, a really good return and gives confidence to achieve a commendable finishing position.
