Curran is a happy boy at Faughan Valley GC

This weekend at Faughan Valley nine-handicapper Glenn Curran won the Happy Landing Open for the third year with a score of 41 points.

Second place was decided on a BOT between 21 handicapper Brendan Carton and seven-handicapper Paul Duffy both carding 39 points and with Brendan scoring 22 points on the back nine to take second.

On Sunday, Faughan Valley’s Jimmy Bruen Team under the captaincy of Nigel Craig took on Ballybofey at Letterkenny coming home with 3.5 to 1.5 victory.

The Ulster Fourball team under the captaincy of John Huw Cleghorn assisted by Terry Dornan took on their neighbour Foyle, coming home with a good result of 2.5 to 2.5, with return match will be at Faughan Valley on Sunday June 22.

This Sunday the club’s Ulster Cup team under the watchful eyes of Trevor Lewers will be competing in Omagh.

While the programme at the club for the weekend, starts on Saturday with Lady Captain Marion Sayers hosting her Captain’s Day and on Sunday their will be an open stableford competition down for decision.

Meanwhile big hitting Gary Leckey (11) won the O’Doherty Bros Open Stableford on Saturday at City of Derry with 41 points, with a steady round consisting of 12 pars.

Second was Anthony Faulkner (19) with 40 points, third was Richard Peoples (16) with 39 points and the gross score was prize won by scratch player Kealan Quigg with 36 points.

The best visitor was Ballyliffin member Hugh Hunter (13) after he scored 26 points and the best Lady was Kathleen Desmond (35) who finished with 31 points.
