Daryl continues his run of form to take top spot again

The first competition of the 2014 season got under way at Silverwood Golf Club on Saturday with some familiar names in the winner’s circle.

Despite the course being reduced to 16 holes because of the inclement weather this did not stop some fine scores being returned throughout the day.

In first place was Daryl Patton with 46 points playing off his 21 handicap he had 25 points on the front nine which included one birdie on the 5th hole, four pars and four bogeys.

He recorded 21 points on the back seven holes with the highlight being a birdie at the 18th hole for a fine total of 46 points.

In second place was James Nicholl with 42 points.

James had 25 points on the front nine with five pars and four bogeys, on the back seven holes he had 17th points with two pars and five bogeys.

In third place was Dessie Skelton with 41 points and a two under gross score.

He had 21 points on his front nine with birdies at the 1st and 8th holes and his back seven holes included three birdies at the 11th, 14th and 18th holes for 20 points and his total of 41 points.

The gross prize was picked up by Sean McStay with 33 gross points.

He had a poor start with a no-score at the first hole but birdies at the 6th, 8th, 13th and 18th holes secured the gross prize for Sean.

In fourth place was Bill Geoghegan with 41 points, he had 25 points on the front nine with one birdie at the 9th hole, six pars and two bogeys. Bill had 16 points on the back seven with three pars and four bogeys.

Taking fifth place was the winner of last week’s sweep Kieran Devlin with 40 points he had 22 points on the front nine and 18 points on the back nine.

The senior prize was picked up by Jim Haddock with 38 points.
