Elaine and charityare the winners

THIS week at Lurgan the ladies were playing for Mrs Dorothy Woods’s prize and were asked to make a donation to MacMillan Cancer Support and amount raised was £218.50.

A big thanks to Dorothy for donating the prize and to everyone for donating to this worthy cause.

The winner with a fantastic score of 43 points was matchplay champion Elaine Bell who set out her intent with a par at the first and recorded another four pars. The only hole she didn’t score at was the thirteenth and she would have had an even better score but nerves might have been getting the better of her when she dropped seven shots over the last three holes.

The next three prizes all went to players who were involved in Sunday’s mixed foursomes team so they are obviously continuing their good play. The gross went to Christine Hagan.

Section 1 went to the ever steady Lynne Hanna with 34 points and section 2 went to Orla O’Dowd with 41 point. Orla couldn’t have seen her good score coming when she started off with a ding at the first but she counteracted this with steady golf, the highlight being a birdie at the eleventh.

Section 3 went to Audrey Spence with 39 points. Audrey’s scores have been improving every week and everyone will be pleased to see her break par to secure a prize.

There will have been two different viewpoints on such high scores this week. Match and handicap and players will be frustrated not to see handicaps fall but will have taken note of such notable performances. However, on the other hand a lot of team captains will be breathing a sigh of relief not to have lost a players from their teams.
