Experience pays off for McCauley

McCauley rose above the rest of the field and used his wealth of experience playing in drying conditions to post an excellent 42 points in Redcastle’s Club Confined competition.

With sunny and warmer conditions golfers found it harder to judge distances with approach shots running through the greens.

Hot on Tommy’s heels Danny Moore scored a fine 39 points to finish in second place on a break of tie with Scramble Master Billy Harkin placed third also with 39 points.

Din Tracey continued his run of form winning the gross prize with 27 gross points.

The Burns brothers claimed the front and back nine, Pat winning the front nine with an excellent 22 points and Jim winning the back nine with 21 points.

The ladies competition sponsored by Portstewart Clothing Company was claimed by Margaret Haughey (32) after she scored 33 points. While the club confined competition on April 14 was claimed by Mary McArthur.

The Peugeot 208 LGU Foursomes competition, which will be staged on Monday, April 28, the draw times is 10am, 5pm and 5.30pm.
