Glackin is victorious at City of Derry Golf Club after close finish

Eight handicapper Paul Glackin came out on top at City of Derry on Saturday, after he finished with 31 points.

Second spot went to Denis O’Donnell (15) after he scored 30 points and following a break of tie finish Billy Acheson (16) with 29 points was third.

While Sunday’s competition at Prehen went to Stephen McKeegan following a BOT finish when he scored 30 points, second spot went to Clive Brolly after he too scored 30 points.

Third place was claimed by Tom McDermott who scored 29 points, while trio George Pearson, Dennis O’Connell and David Bradley all finished with 28 points to claim fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively.

Meanwhile Balmoral Golf Club will be holding a new knockout tournament for over 60’s who are affiliated to the GUI.

The tournament will be played during the months from May to September, no player shall be eligible to compete in the tournament whose handicap was less then 10 in the preceding calendar year.

The maximum handicap is 15, therefore any player with a higher handicap can only play off the maximum handicap of 15, shots will be given.
