Ian and Jonny scramble win at Gracehill

Ian Morrisson and Johnny Munnis have combined well in doubles play this season so far so it was no surprise that the duo came out on top in this year’s Campbell Scramble.

They have reached the club Doubles final this year having won last year and they showed why they are such a successful combo when they shot 59.5 net including two’s at 14 and 16 to win the competition.

In second place 1.5 strokes behind were David Jardine and Robert Brown who took 2nd place on countback from Keith Bankhead and Harry Spence also completing the tournament in 61 strokes.

On Sunday Gilmour Harkness made a welcome return to winning ways when he scored a fine 41 points including 21 points after the turn to leave him 2 points clear of John Dobbin and Trevor Kane in 2nd and 3rd.

Gareth Blair and David Ussher were one back on 38 for fourth and 5th spots Only twos of the day were both scored by Pete Cronin on holes 7 and 11.

The P.G.A. Tankard was contested on Bank Holiday Monday and Eleanor Brown and William McQuiston will be travelling to Lurgan along with Club professional Ian Blair for the Ulster finals of the PGA Tankard.

Jimmy McClenaghan showed some good form at the weekend to win div 1 sweep with 38 points as he approaches his big showdown with James Chestnutt in the Club Singles Competition.

Runner up to James was David Jardine whose back nine of 16 proved his downfall after a great opening nine of 22 points.

In third place was Geoffry McLean on 37.

In Division 2 it was Stuart Gowland who showed the way to the rest with a 39 point total from a trio on 38 - Mervyn McKeeman, Ivan Taylor and James McIlhatton.

Stuart had a good opening nine holes recording 20 points and completed his round with 19 more to take 1st place on his own.

And as they say in the best news programmes - breaking news is Robert McNeill and Herbie McCook were victors over Johnny Munnis and Ian Morrison in the Club Singles 5 and 4.
