Jimmy and Sue win popular mixed competition at Rockmount GC

The Lynas Foods mixed competition played on Sunday at Rockmount is one of the premier mixed competitions of the year and the only mixed ‘stroke’ competition. The popularity of this competition regularly attracts a large field and this year was no different.

Only one couple managed to break nett par; Jimmy Robinson and Sue McDonagh. Jimmy and Sue scored a net 67, six shots better than second placed husband and wife team Herbie Anderson and Vi Anderson who had a net 73. Third and fourth places were also husband and wife pairings, Norman and Maureen Entwistle were third with 74 and Eric and Audrey Chambers fourth with a nett 75. Captain Glenn Willis thanked sponsors Lynas Foods and those that played before prizes were presented by Lady Captain Noeleen Houston. The Gents eighteen hole sweep on Saturday proved to be a very competitive battle. First place with 40 points was Colin Henderson (05), beating Ross Keyes (21) into second place on count back as Ross also scored 40 points. The low section (0-11) was won by Ed McDonald (09) with 39 points, the mid-section (12–17) was won by Brian Heading (17) with 39 points and the high section (18–28) was won by Andrew Glass (20).
