Also on Friday evening, the Holt Shield team travelled to Green Acres Golf Club for their final match in the mini league. Knowing they needed the maximum 10 points to equal Lisburn who finished their matches with 40 points or 5 points to surpass Bangor in second place, who finished their matches with 34 points the challenge would be tough at Green Acres.

Out first for Rockmount was Andy Gregge he succumbed to a 3 & 1 defeat. Ryan Wilson and Colin Henderson both secured wins 4 & 3 and 3 & 2 respectively, leaving only one point needed from the final two matches to secure second place in the mini league. Harry Greer and Jimmy Robinson fought gallantly but alas it was to no avail. Rockmount finished on 34 points level with Bangor. Bangor will progress to the match play rounds by virtue of having secured more points away from home than the Rockmount team.

Saturday June 29 was the Prossat sponsored competition. Simon Gray (10) was first with 39 points beating Mark Bosket (16) second, on count-back. The low section (0 -11) was won by Jonny Patterson (04) with 38 points, the mid-section (12 – 17) was won by Andrew Agnew (15) who also scored 39 points and the high section (18 – 28) was won by Peter McCluskey (18) who also scored 38 points. Best gross on the day was from Colin McClenaghan (2) who had a level par gross score of 72.

On Sunday June 30 the club championship was held at Rockmount. The field of 18 commenced their first round in warm breezy conditions. Setting off in three balls, after nine holes the scoring was very good with Danny Montgomery and Ryan Wilson leading on one over par 38’s; closely followed by Jonny Patterson, Peter Brown and Adam Foreman on two over par 39’s and Ed Donaldson on three over par 40. At the completion of the first 18 Jonny Patterson matched his opening nine of 39 with another 39 for an eighteen hole total of 78. Stuart Rossi finished two shots behind Jonny on 80 and Andy Gregge third on 81. Colin McClenaghan, Tommy Gibson, Ed Donaldson and Ryan Wilson were all on 82. Starting in reverse scoring order for the second round the playing conditions did not change much from the morning until the last group Jonny, Stuart and Andy stood on the first tee (their 19th hole) then the rain commenced. It did not rain for very long but added to the challenge for those chasing Jonny. After nine holes the club championship appeared to be between two people, Adam Foreman who was one under for holes nineteen to twenty seven and Jonny who was one over for the same holes closing the gap to four after Stuart Rossi and Andy Gregge had fallen further back. All rested on who could keep their nerve over the last six holes; Jonny prevailed scoring 79 in the second round, Adam made the best score of the day 77 to finish second. Third place went to Colin McClenaghan. Captain Glenn Willis presented Jonny with the Club Champions trophy; Jonny is the first member to win the trophy on three separate occasions.
