In her welcome address, Lady Captain voiced the world wide concern over the effects global warning, but added that the lovely weather over the season was welcome as this had helped conditions at a local level, as just two competitions had to be re-scheduled due to inclement weather. The annual Lady Captain’s team versus the Honorary Secretary’s team which was played that day was more like a Spring day than October. She went on to acknowledge the generosity of members who had donated such lovely prizes to be added to the gleaming silver cups and trophies.

The prizes were presented after the meal. One name was prominent as a winner over the season, Laura Cathcart was presented with at least 6 prizes and trophies and was announced ‘player of the year’. Laura’s handicap was reduced in one season from 15 to 6. Having received warm applause, Laura went on to thank the many ladies she had played with during the year. The final presentation was made to Lady Captain as captain of the winning team that day playing 9 holes match play against the Hon. Secretary’s team, captained by Chris Simpson, in the absence of Ann McCullough.
