Ladies’ scores rise to match the temperature

The ladies sizzled in the heat on Tuesday and just as the temperature took a rise so did the scores.

Ella Beatty provided her own hot streak when she came off the course with 41 points to win the O2 trophy. This was only Ella’s second game of the year and she is certainly finding her feet again as she put together a very tidy round and in particular played the par 3’s well.

The gross went to Niamh Ward with 37 gross points.

Niamh has had a firm hold on the gross these last few weeks and she certainly shone in the sun this week again finishing with a one under back nine. Cara Murphy just missed out on the top prize but won section one with 40 points. Cara had birdies at 11 and 12 and reduced her handicap to 8.

Bernadette Laverty was the winner in section two with a fine 39 points.

For the first 12 holes Bernadette looked as if there was an even bigger score on the way but she dropped a few shots over the last six but a great score and a shot off her handicap.

Viona McConville has been out on the course encouraging her girls and boys to play golf and she must have been working on her own game at the same time as she had 40 points to win section three this week.

A look at her card reveals that she had a very steady round with only one ding which probably just cost her top spot but Viona is certainly a form player at the minute.

All the ladies enjoyed their golf in the glorious weather and none more so than Ella Beatty who is now the proud holder of the beautiful O2 trophy.
