At halfway in Division 1 Billy Cull 6) held a narrow one point advantage over Adrian McCart (10) and James Taylor (8) with Mark Hamilton (6) and David Martin (8).

Through twelve McCart had joined Cull in the lead, two points ahead of Taylor, Hamilton and Martin. McCart birdied the next to take a one point advantage over Cull who took a par.

McCart finished with two pars to win by one point from Cull (two pars) in second. Another point behind came Taylor (three pars), Hamilton (three pars) and Martin (three pars). Martin would surely have been in the mix but for two ‘dings’ in the front seven.

There was a threeway tie at halfway in Division 2 between Garry Robinson (14), Paul Black (11) and Henry Cubitt (11). Paul McNeilly (14) was another point behind.

Through twelve McNeilly had moved ahead of Robinson by one point who was followed by Black and Cubitt at one point intervals respectively.

Approaching Beechers McNeilly was still leading by a single point from Robinson who was joined by Black with the help of a birdie at thirteen. Cubitt was a further point down. In a close finish Robinson with two pars and Black also with two pars were level on points but with a better last seven Robinson took first place with Black second.

At the turn in Division 3 Gordon Allen (16) after recording a ‘ding’ at the Niuc hit back with a ‘hole-in-one’ at the par three fifth to lead by two shots from John McClintock (16) and Ian Stewart (16) (‘ding’ at the Tresury). Clifford Irvine (17) (‘ding’ at the fifth) was four points further behind at this stage.

With two holes to play Allen was still leading by two points from McClintock and a much improved Irvine with Stewart another point down.

In another close ending Allen (two bogeys) was joined by John McClintock (two pars) and with a better last seven McClintock finished first with Allen in second place.

Kevin Agnew (20) led Division 4 by a clear two points at the turn from Steve Henry (21) who had been leading up until he ‘dinged’ on five with David Mudd (20) another point behind. Agnew ran into bogey trouble at the start of the back seven and Henry took advantage to draw level through twelve with Mudd in close contention a point behind.

After a par and a bogey at the next two holes Henry was two points ahead of Agnew who parred thirteen but failed to register at fourteen. Mudd joined Agnew after scoring a double bogey and a par.

Henry came home with two pars to win by three points from Agnew (bogey, par) and Muidd (par, bogey) who finished together and second place went to Mudd with a better last seven.

Philip Graham won the Gross prize. His round included two birdies and eleven pars.
