Peter has already won on two occasions this year and his golf just gets better and better.

His front nine consisted of seven pars and two single bogeys to give him a brilliant 23 points on the front nine.

Birdies at the 10th and 16th and another four pars gave him another 23 points in the back nine to win outright by two clear shots from runner-up George Orr (21).

George got off to a dream start and was sitting on 15 points after six holes before a no score at the fairly straight forward seventh. He recovered well and reached the turn with 21 points.

The only blip on a brilliant back nine was at 17 but he managed to secure a point there to keep his round ticking over. With a few pars and a birdie mixed in, George returned with 23points.

Third place was won by Colin Johnston (16) with a very credible 43 points. Seven pars and a bogey in the first eight holes gave Colin a brilliant start but a triple bogey at the ninth set him back. The back nine included three pars and a birdie but another triple bogey spoiled his card.

Best gross was won by Ivor Harron with 69.

Please note it is Lady Captain’s Day tomorrow (Saturday) so there will be no competition for the men.

WEDNESDAY HAT

Meanwhile, the Wednesday Hat was won by Andrew Smith with 42 points.

JIMMY BRUEN

After a sterling performance in the Jimmy Bruen, Lambeg’s great run of success came to an end on Friday night at Dunmurry against a very strong Fortwilliam team, going down 3-2.

Team Captain Craig Tiffen praised the lads for their effort and commitment and was delighted that they had done so well to reach this stage of the competition.
