With his handicap now down to 17 Declan is relishing the challenge of improving it even further, with the aim of being a single figure golfer by this time next year.

Young Jamie Cochrane showed he can compete with the men as he scored a superb 41 points to win second place. Sean Hasson also scored 41 points but had to settle for third place on countback.

Thursday saw a Club Stableford held in much tougher conditions with windy, showery weather making it hard to get a good score.

Alan Rankin didn’t find it too much trouble though as he scored an excellent 40 points to completely dominate the field for victory. He had 12 pars and 2 birdies in an otherwise faultless display of golf. Stubby Boyd was the best of the chasing pack with a solid round scoring 35 points to claim second place.

A Club Stableford on Saturday again saw the tough conditions continue with the wind blowing a gale at times making for difficult scoring conditions.

Gary Campbell and Brain Cooper were the best of the day with both scoring 38 points. Gary took the win courtesy of countback with Brian taking the runner-up spot. Liam Berryman continued his good form taking third spot with 37 points. Alan Dallas played well to win the gross prize.

The Autumn Pairs is now entering its third week with the pairing of John Harron and Willie McCormick topping the table with 81 points. Alan Dallas and Eamon Barkley are currently in second place with 80 points.
