Reid treads winning patch in Michelin event at Galgorm Castle

Patrick Reid (19), Drew Stewart (19) and Patrick Dallat (1) were a further one, three and five points respectively behind.

Through the Maple Wylie was the new leader by a point from Stirling and Reid.

Approaching the Lowlands Reid had a clear four point advantage after ‘dings’ from Stirling and Wylie at Beechers and the Grove respectively. They were joined by Stewart and Dallat. Reid maintained his four point lead over the closing two holes with two pars to take the Overall Winner’s prize. Stewart (bogey, birdie) took the Overall Runner-up place. Two points further back P.Dallat, Wylie and Stirling finished together and with a better back nine Dallat won Division 1. Second place went to Wylie (better back nine) with Stirling in third place.

At the turn in Division 2 Gary Wilkins (13) had a commanding lead of four points over Ian McCully (12) who in turn was a point ahead of Damien Casey (12) and Robert Young (12) Wilkins’ lead was significiently reduced over the next four holes and through 13 McCully was only one point behind.

Up the Grove and with two holes to play Wilkins had picked up a point on McCully to lead by two points with Young and Casey at one point intervals respectively further behind. Wilkins came home with two pars and increased his lead over McCully to win by three points. Young and Casey finished another point away and with the narrowest of margins Casey took third place with a better back one.

In Division 3 after the front nine John McClintock (17) was leading by a point from Austin McGillian (19). Mark Hayes (18) was another point behind. Keith Dinsmore (18) and William Kennedy (19) were a further one and two points respectively behind the leader. Birdies at 12 and 13 saw Hayes move into the lead, two points ahead of McGillian with Kennedy moving closer another point away.

Through the Grove McClintock who parred four of the previous five holes regained the lead by two points over Kennedy, Dinsmore and Hayes.

McClintock increased his lead over the closing two holes which he bogeyed to win by three points from Kennedy (double bogey, bogey) in second. Hayes, Dinsmore and McGillian finished together and with a better back nine third place went to Dinsmore.

After Longlands George Irwin (28) was leading by a point in Division 4 from James McKay (27) with Ian Stewart (20) a further three points down. Samuel MacDonald (22) was another three points behind.

With two holes left to play Stewart and MacDonald were two points behind Irwin, who finished double bogey ,bogey to win the Division. MacDonald (double bogey, par) was two points behind and won the Seniors. Stewart and McKay finished together five points behind the winner and with a better back nine second place was taken by Stewart with McKay third. Steven Penney won the gross prize.
