Steady Eddie winsat City of Derry

EDDIE LEONARD (20) was the leader of the pack after recording his 43 point winning score in the weekly Sunday Society competition at Prehen. He finished just one shot clear of three players on 42 points, his superb birdie three at the long 17th clinching the deal for him.

Best of the trio on 42 points was Thursday Society treasurer Eddie Mitchell (15) who had 22 of those points on the back nine, he in turn was followed by Neil King (20) with 20 points on his back nine and Fred Young (8) who finished in fourth place. Gary Leckey (10) had 41 points to finish in fifth place ahead of Rob Jefferson (12), sixth on the count back.

While Andy McFaul (9) with a 43 points total won his second turkey in as many weeks at Prehen on Saturday, thanks to an incredible two under par gross second nine for 25 points and a break of tie victory over second placed James Desmond (15). James seemed to be in the favourites spot with three holes to play but dropped shots at 16 and 18 were too costly.

Tony Murray (25) also finished on 43 points and settled for third place on another count back and will have a bottle of spirits as a consolation prize.

While tonight’s (Wednesday) regular quiz was won this week in fine fashion by the quaintly named “no wi-fi detected” team. With new technology now being deployed by Quizmaster Pat Logue they may consider a name change sooner rather than later.

Anyway the “craic” is good and the quiz will be starting a wee bit earlier in future weeks at 8.30pm. Visiting teams from other clubs and groups will be sure of a warm welcome.
