Gregg resigned to losing King

INSTITUTE manager John Gregg admits he's resigned to losing centre-back David King, because of work commitments.

The defender misses this weekend's trip to Ballymoney United, as he is having interviews in England and the 'Stute gaffer believes the ex-Oxford United man will be on his way sooner rather than later.

"David has three interviews in England this week and that's why he's missing the Ballymoney game, in fact although they are only interviews I'm resigned to losing him," he said.

"He played well at Loughgall and that day he showed the type of commitment I want from all my players, by playing through the pain barrier."

The Waterside men have a number of players missing for this weekend's Ladbrokes.com Championship One encounter, but Gregg is confident whatever players come in will do a job.

"Thomas Wray is still missing and to be honest we may not see him again until Christmas, Vinny (Sweeney) is suspended and Ruairi (McClean) is struggling with an ankle injury, which he picked up after a bad challenge in the Dergview game," he added.

"But we have to get on with it and if the players come in and do their job then we have a chance of getting a positive result at Ballymoney.

"We want to push on from our last two wins and maintain our unbeaten run. We played Ballymoney in a pre-season friendly last year and as I'm living near them I know they haven't changed their side that much, so like the pre-season game it's going to be a tough match.

"However what I'm looking for is a bit of consistency, because as Eddie Patterson said at the weekend, you get commitment and energy from young players, but the big thing you have to work on with them is trying to get consistency and that's what I'll be telling them this week at training.

"They played well and defended well against Dergview, but there is no time of patting each other on the back, because one game doesn't make you an Irish League footballer, you need to keep doing it week in, week out and hopefully that is what all my players will continue to work on."
