The Academy ensured their place in a seventh successive Burney decider when they overcame Royal and Prior 7-1 at Comber Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Skipper Johnny McKee led the way with an early opener, converting a trademark short corner into the bottom corner.

Royal and Prior keeper Buchanan had to be at his best to keep it to one until 24 minutes but there was little he could do to prevent Jake Rowe making it 2-0.

Robbie Scott made it three soon after the break as Robbie Scott was alert to tap home the rebound when another McKee corner caused havoc and came back off the post.

Sam Farson scored the fourth with a fierce reverse into the corner of the net and Armstrong soon made it five.

McKee made it six with another well-hit strike and, after Ben Wallace pulled a consolation back for Prior, Farson added the icing on the cake to make it 7-1 right on full-time.

This year’s final will take place on Wednesday 25th March.

Wallace, of course, came out on top of last year’s decider on penalty flicks after Sean Murray’s corner levelled the scores with the last hit of the match.
