The Glademen lost the game 2-0 but they will take a number of positives from the match before they take to the field at Stormont on Saturday, (push back 3:30pm).

Friday’s match started at an electric pace with both sides trading chances, but it was the visitors who broke the deadlock when an attacker broke into the circle and fired high into the net.

Mossley rallied and produced a number of opportunities but the final touch eluded them.

The Belfast side doubled their lead on 20 minutes with a penalty corner rebound.

Mossley stepped out in the second half and pushed hard to find an opening into the match, unfortunately a number of spells of good play were not enough to break down the Instonians defence.

The home side’s pressure showed with the award of a number of penalty corners but the Instonians keeper was on guard to keep them out.

A strong second-half performance by Mossley contained the Instonians attacking threat.

Elsewhere, the club’s 2nd XI pulled back a late equaliser to take a point away from their fixture against Bangor, with Matthew Anderson scoring from close range.

The 3rd XI also bagged a share of the spoils when Mark Lee netted a brace against Bangor in a 2-2 draw.

The 4th XI fixture versus Annadale saw Mossley win 7-6, with goals from Paul Turner (three), Joe Wray (two), Jordan Oliver and Michael Dorman.
