HOCKEY: Parkview and Malone play out scoreless draw

The draw keeps Clare McClean’s girls up with the pace-setters in Senior 4, with their unbeaten record still intact.

With Nicola Singleton and Kerry Erskine industrious in midfield, the hosts did most of the attacking in the first half but shots by Toni Smallwood, Natalie Cahoon and Tammy Gamble saved by the keeper, who was much busier than Graham at the opposite end.

One advance by full-back Jenny Wallace almost broke the deadlock but Cahoon was unable to make contact with the defence stretched.

After the break Penny Purdy and Singleton linked down the left several times but Tori Campbell and Grace Carson were unable to get the ball into the net so the match ended in stalemate.

Parkview’s Clare McClean said: “It was a very frustrating evening. We dominated possession and spent most of the time in their half but we couldn’t get that elusive winner. It was good to have Emma Stubbs back in defence for the first time this season and conceding only one goal in our first four matches confirms that there are no problems with this department but failure to score in the past two games is cause for concern.”
