Hunter takes a hat-trick

LURGAN’S Jonathan Hunter took a hat-trick as the Tigers’ under 17 team progressed to the next round of the Colts Cup.

They had a comfortable 10 wicket win over Cregagh.

Lurgan took to the field with a young, inexperienced team with a number of players on holiday.

Cregagh won the toss and batted first, but were soon in trouble when opener Harper was out second ball, leg before to James McCollum.

Cregagh struggled to get any momentum going in their innings, due to the tight Lurgan bowling with NCU U13 players Callum Gibson, Neil Allen and Jonathan Hunter all excelling.

Gibson finished with 2 for 5 off four overs, Allen with 1 for 14 off four overs and Hunter with 3 for 13 off four overs which included his first ever hat-trick. McCollum was the other wicket taker with 1 for 6 off 4 overs.

Cregagh finished their 20 overs with a score of 59 for seven, A McCormick scoring 21 not out.

Lurgan openers James McCollum and Jack Harrison wasted little time knocking off the runs which they did in eight overs. McCollum finished unbeaten on 32, including five fours and one six, with Harrison not out on 24, including 2 fours.

Lurgan now meet CSNI in the next round.
