Lagan Valley are sunk by opponents in Division Five

LAGAN Valley could only manage two points at home when they lost by seven shots to Lurgan B in NIBA Division Five.

At the tenth Billy Hobson was 12-4 ahead and with the help of a four Valley were 19-8 up at 15 ends before winning by eight shots.

Down 6-16 at the tenth Wilfie Benson was 6-28 adrift at 15 ends before losing by 25 shots.

Lifting and dropping fours Jeff Fawcus was 12-9 up at the tent and another four gave Valley a 19-12 advantage at 15 ends, but they had to hold on to get a one shot win. Despite lifting a five Jim Kinkead was 7-8 down at the sixth and in a closely fought game Valley trailed 19-23 with an end left. Kinkead took the jack to the ditch but could not get the extra shot and lost by a shot.

- The Lisnagarvey ladies NIWBA Senior League game at home to Donaghadee was abandoned around the halfway stage following torrential rain.

It will be played on Monday, August 5.
