Latest news from Lisnagarvey Ladies Bowling Club

Lisnagarvey Ladies bowling club played Banbridge at Banbridge on a very cold, blustery day on September 3.

The conditions did not suit Lisnagarvey who lost 1 to 6 which placed the two teams neck and neck in the league.

On the 9th of September, Lisnagarvey played Dungannon in the final of the Wingrave cup.

This cup is for teams in the senior league of the Northern Ireland Women’s Bowling Association.

Three rinks of four played each other at Musgrave bowling club.

Although two of the Lisnagarvey rinks beat Dungannon, the overall score was not enough to see them lift the cup as they went down 48 shots to Dungannon’s 61 shots.

The next day saw Lisnagarvey hosts to Divis club. Moya McLean’s rink of Mae Gibson, Gwen Collins ,and Caroline Keys won 22 shots to 9.

Vera McCourt, Mirdza Oak, Greta Jeffers and Ruth Tolerton went down 18’shots to 24.

Iris Scott,Marion Stevenson, Bridie O’ Rourke and Marilyn Kerr had a good win ,32 shots to 8.

Kay McCully, Joyce Lyness, Judy Greer and Patience Adamson had a close match coming out the winners as the opposition only had three players and lost a quarter of their score which meant Kay’s rink won 20 to 16.75.

This gave Lisnagarvey 6 points.

The last match of the season was due to be played at Donaghadee on Thursday 17th September.
