Latharna go top with win over Ballyclare Old Boys

Latharna now occupy top spot in the Larne and District Snooker League after a 4-1 win against Ballyclare Old Boys.

Raymond Weir (24), Gavin Carmichael (43), W. Millar and Jim Jackson (43) all secured wins with Joe Lennon providing the only response for the Old Boys.

St Comgall’s drop down to second, one point behind after a shock home defeat against The Point. Ciaran O’Toole and Alphonsus McIlwaine (24) took frames for the hosts, but Graham Ferguson, Steven Girvan and Eddie Carson made sure the win for the mid-table team.

Thanks to their 11th win of the campaign, Linfield are just a point further point behind after they got the better of lowly placed Larne Legion. Raymond Forsythe, Billy Parke and John Ferguson were all on target for the Blues, with Lee Topping and Tyler McKee winning for the Point Street team.

Carrick ‘A’ and Greenbank ‘A’ share fifth spot after the Golfers won 4-1 against Ballyclare ‘A’. D. Wright, K. Knocker, D. Newell and Ricky Bradley all won for Carrick, with Trevor Mairs hitting back for Ballyclare.

Greenbank ‘A’ player Pete McCaffrey had a 58 break in his match against A. Adrian in the Greenbank Derby. Billy McNeilly registered the only frame for the ‘B’ team as Davy Douglas, Robert Kinnon and Wayne Harper also won to secure a 4-1.

St John’s won 3-2 against Carrick ‘B’ and Ballylumford secured a 4-1 away win at Ballyclare B. J. Magill, Darren McNeill, M. McWilliams and Paul Wylie all won, with Ian Wallace winning for the golfers.

The next meeting will be held in Greenbank Snooker Club, Carrickfergus on Tuesday February 25 at 7:30 pm.
