Leaders Swift ease to win over Whitehead

Carrick and District Pool League: Champions Greenisland Galacticos took on stablemates and emerged as 9-5 victors.

League leaders The Swift travelled to Whitehead to face The Trojans. Tristin Scott Hayes’ team were 7-0 down at the break and while there was a muted response from Whites with two frame wins, it was The Swift who showed why they continue to lead the way with a 12-2 success.

Doagh Weapons were hoping to keep their 100 per cent record intact but they fell to an 8-6 defeat at the hands of Whitehead Spartans.

The Scorpions played host to Clare Roberts’ improving Warriors. Darren Whiteside bagged another fine hat-trick as the Scorpions won 9-5 overall.

Eastway welcomed a full strength Hit Men & Her who took the first session 5-2 and the second 4-3. A. McMeekin and P. Henderson pocketed fine hat-tricks along the way.

Knockout cup semi-finalists Teddy Bears played host to Mark Kitson’s Alpha. After holding their own in their recent run of fixtures, the Teddy Bears must have thought they had three points in the bag when the held a 5-2 advantage at the break.

However, Alpha dug deep and won the second session 5-2 to take a share of the spoils in a 7-7 draw.

After stealing a point last time out, Greenisland Working Men’s Club (GWMC) made the trip to Knockout Cup semi-finalists Cowboys. The hosts, buoyed by their cup success, won the opening four frames before making it 5-2 at the interval.

Glen Burns’s lads responded to win five out of the next six, only for J. McMurtry to salvage a point for the Cowboys.
