League leaders Angler’s are held to a draw at home

All the latest results from the A McClean’s Bookmakers Pool League

DIVISION ONE

WEEK EIGHT

RBL 4

Railway 4

The Railway went 1-0 ahead through the shrewd signing of Gary Thom, but Ryan Paxton couldn’t follow suit as he was defeated by Chris Gault.

Joe McGivern and Damien Paxton put them on the road that appeared to lead to victory, but the Legion boys rallied to win the next three frames through Burns, Rankin and the doubles pairing of Gault and Rankin.

Superstar signing Thom and his mate Paxton levelled the scores in the final frame to share the points.

Angler’s Rest 4

Bus Bar 4

The fishermen of the Corbett must have had a hole in their net this week as they dropped their first points of the season.

Though looking at the table, the Bus Bar may well sneak in as contenders for second spot. McAvoy and McClean gave the home side their usual 2-0 lead, but TB’s pulled the next one back.

Cathal McAnarney continued his excellent run of form to regain their two frame lead. His threats to retire this season seem long in the past now.

Things didn’t quite go to plan for the Anglers after that as McAlinden and Capt Dave both won before the first doubles game went their way.

However, McClean was playing the final frame for the Anglers, and the man just doesn’t do defeat.

A draw was probably a fair result.

O’Reilly’s B 2

Mulholland’s B 6

Andy Cooke and Ben Mitchell gave O’Reillys the lead and that was probably the highlight of their dismal season.

Wilson, Jardine, McCormack and Moore guaranteed Mulhollands the points before taking both doubles frames.

M Jamison (Imperial) 6

There are countless players on four frames so a close eye will be kept on the coming fixtures as the men separate from the boys.
