Liam Ball Triathlon this weekend

THE 27th staging of the popular Liam Ball triathlon which incorporates the North West Sprint race takes centre this Sunday at Templemore Sports Complex.

The first wave of the three disciplined event will commence at 9am with the 750m pool swim (30 lengths) followed by a 20k bike ride which leaves the grounds of the Complex and takes participants through Brigend, Burt and 4.5 miles towards Letterkenny before turning back at the Maxol Garage and returning to the Complex to finish up with a 5k run.

Registration opens tomorrow (Saturday) from 4pm to 5.30pm and again on Sunday from 7.30am. The race briefing will be at 8.30am in the Main Hall for waves one, two and three while waves four, five and six will be briefed in the Hall at 9.45am.

Hard shell hats are compulsory during the cycle section of the race and any competitor who does not have Triathlon Ireland membership will be required to purchase a One Day Licence on the day.

Brian Campbell claimed top prize in the men’s section last year while Anne Paul’s 66 minutes and 26 seconds clocking gave her the win in the female section.

NorthWest Tri club members Jarlath Fearon and Aoife Logan were the leading local male and female finishers.
