Local rink in decider of anniversary tournament

The Lurgan 400 anniversary invitational rinks has reached the final stage.

The final of the competition, sponsored mainly by the Lurgan Credit Union, will be played next Wednesday evening at 6.30pm between a Lurgan rink skipped by Alan Roberts and Mark Sproule’s Portadown rink.

It promises to be an exciting contest. The final usually draws good spectator numbers.

Both semi-finals were hard fought between the opponents with Alan Roberts beating Robert Cassells from Portadown 18–16, and Andy Hughes, Dunbarton, providing tough opposition against the other Portadown rink skipped by Mark Sproule who eventually won 22–18.
