Local snooker teams hope to be on cue as new season begins

There will be two Divisions with seven teams in each Division. Two snooker clubs have changed names 147 club was formerly the Fountain club and Potters club was previously Triangle Snooker club in Coleraine.

Division 1

Minnesota B - current league champions retain the same team as last year. Should contend for most of this seasons trophies.

147 Pistols - Formerly Fountain Aces Runners up last year although they picked up a couple of Knockout Trophies. Will be in the shake up again for trophies at end of the season.

Potters - Formerly Triangle Aces they were third last year and picked up the Charity Shield. Have picked up trophies every year they have been in the BDSL and have a good chance to do so again this year.

Dunloy United - A very creditable fourth last year considering they played every match away from home as their clubrooms were refurbished. Did well in the cup competitions last season and could prove difficult to be back in their home clubrooms.

Minnesota Strikers - Started well last season then came down with the decorations at Christmas and never won a game after Christmas. As usual they can give anyone a tough match on their night but how many of those nights come around is anybodys guess.

Minnesota Rockets - Formerly Minnesota A they won a memorial competition last season. Have added a couple of players to their panel and should have a solid season.

Potters Hotshots - Newly formed team playing out of Coleraine. Have players with previous BDSL experience and will give all their opponents a tough match.

Division 2

147 Antrim - Formerly Fountain Jokers they reached a cup final last season. A mixture of new faces and older players they probably finish in top 3 of second Division this season.

Potters Elite - Formerly Triangle Young Guns had their debut season last year. A seasons experience of BDSL snooker would suggest they will fill a top three spot in Division Two this year.

Allstars - Playing out of the Rafters club in Ballymoney Sammy Walkers team did well a few years back in the BDSL. Similar squad to their title winning team so should challenge for Division 2 crown again.

Parochial Lions - Didn’t always have their best players available for matches last season. Have added a couple of new players and could be a surprise contender for Division 2 this season.

Parochial Hawks - Long time league members though with one of the smallest playing panels in the league. Cup competitions will probably as in previous years give them their best chance of silverware.

Dunloy Cowboys - Didn’t adapt to playing away as well as their United clubmates last season. Now they are back home they will be hoping for a more solid season.

Seagulls Potters - Imaginatively titled new boys from the Coleraine club. May take a season for most of them to get used to the BDSL but hopefully they will enjoy the experience.
