Magherafelt Harriers coach conquers London Marathon despite injuries

On Sunday 26th April five Magherafelt Harriers joined nearly 40,000 people in competing in the Virgin Money London Marathon.

The field was packed with elite runners , fund raisers , amateur runners and celebrities and with hundreds of local runners from the province in the line up our runners where in good company .

Darren Church proved once again that he is on top of his game with a storming run in a PB time of 2:57 a super effort from a supreme athlete .

Coach Francis Stewart blighted with injuries leading up to this event dug deep to register a great time of 3:22 . Brilliant effort from Francis who is committed to his personal training and to that of the club .

Malachy Mullan was next in followed by Jonny Callan in 4:03 and 4:18 respectively with Jayne Higgins enjoying her first experience of London marathon finishing in 4:36.

A great experience again for all our runners who done themselves and the club proud . Well done from all at Magherafelt Harriers .
