Even though it was wet, however, the mild conditions didn’t stop 41 riders taking part in the second two-up time trial of the league.

There were 19 pairs of riders along with two individual riders from guest clubs. The start line was at Mulgrews outside Dromore, and the riders had to ride to the turn at Polypipe some five miles away.

The course itself is infamous for its rolling roads and the energy-sapping climb up Clogher Hill, and it was good to see so many out on in wasn’t ideal conditions for time trialling.

The timekeepers got the riders underway shortly after 7pm, and once all the riders where on their way to the turn it was a short wait for the first pairs to cross the line.

Once everyone was across the line, tea and biscuits where served under the gazebo set up at the start/finish area, and proved extremely popular giving the weather conditions.

Looking at the times, brothers Gavin and Chris Magowan came out fastest in a time of 23:12. John Clyde from West Down Wheelers was second quickest on night with 24:42, a brilliant time as John did the time trial on his own.

Conor Rice and Brendan Duff rode well to finish with 25:04 to earn them the third fastest time, and second quickest pairing on the night.

Well done to all who took part on the night. Some quick times where posted which shows that everyone is improving their times.

Many thanks to the marshals who stood in the rain at the turning point on the course, and thanks to the timekeepers who kept an eye on the riders’ times.

The next round of the club league is this Thursday night, this time a road race on the Drumaroad circuit.
