McAllister and Brennan run well at Cookstown race

Larne Athletic Club members Ian Brennan and Phelim McAllister travelled to Cookstown on Friday (August 2) to take part in Stanley Reid Memorial five-mile road race.

The course starts and finishes within the grounds of the campus at Loughry College with the majority of the race out on the undulating country roads around Cookstown.

McAllister was first home for the club with a fantastic run, finishing in 15th place with a time of 28.46. Brennan also had an excellent race, crossing the line in 86th place with a time of 33.52 - over a minute faster than his previous best on this course in 2012.

This week Larne AC had members taking part in Carrick and Larne parkruns.

Norma Johnston was a first-timer at Carrick and crossed the line in 30.12.

Raymond Bannon had a very successful first outing at Larne with a second-place finish in 20.13, with Patricia Blair finishing 1st female in 21.46.

Gabriel Rodgers was next in 22.18, followed by Dan Magill in 23.06. Glyn Allen finished in 25.31, with Claire Dickinson finishing third female in 26.12.

Erin Beattie, Ashlynn Rodgers and Kirsten Montgomery all recorded personal bests with times of 26.34, 26.50 and 27.20 respectively.

David Kerr was another making his debut and he crossed the line in 27.34, with Bill Guiller just behind in 27.35. Robin Alexander ran 27.54.

Clare McGuinness was next home in 28.01 with Isla Allen running a personal best 30.23. Katie and Julie Allen were next with times of 30.42 and 31.19.

Michael McCowan ran a personal best 35.52, and David Henderson finished in 44.25.
