McCarroll Plate for Colin

It was Colin McAleese's day at Gracehill on Saturday 10 April as he lifted the McCarroll Plate the first trophy of the new season.

The 24 handicapper did it with 41 points which comprised nineteen front nine points followed by a strong 22 point finish ending up two points clear of Robert Brown (21) whose better back nine(21 points) was enough to force Gary Connelly (25) into third .

Harry Spence(26) was fourth with 37 points.Twos went to C. Hamill and L. McCauley.

On Sunday Robert McNeill (3) had yet another great performance to claim first place with four points to spare.

He did it with a faultless 23 point front nine followed by a 20 point finish.

Colin McAleese (21) continued where he left off the previous day with 39 points including a 23 point back nine. Two points separated him from George Horner (15) in third place.

James McIlhatton(26) was fourth with 36 points beating Mervyn Gibson (16) on back nine.

Darren Lamont (5) took Gross Prize with 29 points.

Tommy Dykes and Miller Eagleson got twos at wing 'n a prayer while Ben Napier got the other two at Oasis.

The Fred Daly Qualifying Competitionon 17 April saw the returning Neil Bennett (15) in fine form with a fine 41 point total to clinch top spot two points clear of Herbie McCook (13)on 39 points.

Neil will go on to compete in the next phase at Lisburn golf club.

Herbie's 20 point back nine was enough to push James Falconer into third on countback. Fourth place went to Robert

Brown (19) with 38 points whose better back six pushed Aaron Bell (7) into fifth .

Steven Bell (6) got the best gross with 32. Two's went to S. Bell, P. Cronin, J. Graham, D. Lamont, L. McCloy, A. McIntyre, R.

McIntyre, and B. Napier. Next week two man scramble results.
