McCart triumphs over last six holes at Galgorm

As the Winter League, has now finished the focus has switched to the Eclectic event for the next few weeks at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.

Four players – Jonathan McCart (6), Brian McFall jnr (4) Philip Galloway (5) and John McCarry (4) – were involved in a very close ending in Division 1 when they finished together.

McCarry was leading by a point through the Trout Hole from Galloway with McFall jnr. And McCart at one and two points further behind. Gallowaqy parred the next to draw level with McCarry, two points ahead of McFall jnr. with McCart another point back.

McCarry (par, bogey, par), Galloway (bogey, par, par), McFall jnr. (par, par, birdie) and J.McCart (birdie, par, par) finished together and with a better last six J.McCart was the winner with McFall jnr. (better last six) in second place.

In Division 2 Alan Knox (6), George Kernohan (7) and Andy Moore (8) were pushing hard for the lead a point behind Barry Mott (8) through The Niuc. Neil Fitzsimmons (7) and Terence Martin (7) were a further one and two points respectively further behind.

Knox (two pars) increased his lead to two points over the closing two holes to win from Mott (bogey, par), Kernohan (par, bogey), Moore (par, bogey), Fitzsimmons (par, bogey) and T.Martin (bogey, par) who all finished together. Second place was taken by Fitzsimmons with a better last six.

James McClintock (9) opened briskly in Division 3 to take a commanding three point lead over John Caulfield (9). Raymond Steele (10) and Noel McAlynn (9) were a further one and two points respectively behind.

Steele (par, bogey, par), Caulfield (birdie, bogey, par) and McAlynn (three pars) closed the gap further but McClintock managed to hold on to win by one point with a par, bogey, bogey finish. Steele, Caulfield and McAlynn finished together and with a better last six second place went to McAlynn.

Daniel Reilly won the best gross prize, while Michael Burton won the back nine competition.
