Glenn Irwin being transferred to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with 'pelvic pain' following four-rider red flag crash in opening British Superbike race at Snetterton
Glenn Irwin is being transferred to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital following a red flag crash on the opening lap of Saturday’s British Superbike race at Snetterton in Norfolk.
The Nitrous Competitions Ducati rider was caught up in a nasty incident at Turn 2 when his brother Graeme wiped out Charlie Nesbitt and Rory Skinner.

Graeme, who is deputising for his injured brother Andrew on the MET fonacab Racing Ducati, was unable to get the machine stopped on the brakes and collided with Skinner and Nesbitt, with Glenn Irwin unable to avoid the melee.
He was initially treated on the track before being taken to the circuit medical centre.
An official update issued by the BSB organisers said Irwin had been declared unfit and was being transferred to hospital for further assessment.
It read: “Glenn Irwin has pain in the pelvic area and is being transferred to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further assessment and scans.”
Nesbitt sustained a fracture to the second metacarpal in his right hand in the incident and has also been declared unfit.
The incident comes just over a year after Irwin was involved in a big crash at Snetterton in qualifying, suffering pelvic injuries which ended any hopes of a championship challenge in 2025.
The 36-year-old had to start the race from 15th position on the grid after issues in qualifying prevented him from completing any flying laps.
The race was restarted over 14 laps, with pole man Bradley Ray taking the win on the McAMS Yamaha by 0.272s from Scott Redding (Hager PBM Ducati).
Championship leader Kyle Ryder was over three seconds back in third on the Nitrous Competitions Racing Ducati.
The race was stopped on the penultimate lap due to a technical red flag after Christian Iddon’s Sencat Racing Yamaha suffered an engine blow-up.
Rhys Irwin finished 13th with his MasterMac Honda team-mate Eugene McManus in 14th position.
