The teenager landed a hat-trick of wins from three starts on the Watt Motorcycles/Agnew Recovery KTM at Tinkerhill, Newry.

He qualified second-fastest for the MX2 races and in race one made a good start, running in second place before making his way into lead at the half-way mark. From there he pressed on to extend his lead to win comfortably.

In race two he again made a good start, and much like race one, he made his way into lead to claim another victory.

McCormick’s third and final outing saw the reigning champion take the win with a flag-to-flag demolition job.

“I enjoyed the races and the wins,” McCormick told the Times. “It was good to race with the 450 machines and be on the pace. It gives me confidence as I look forward to round four of the British Motocross Championship in England.”
