Much better as Lagan Valley get league campaign back on track

Lagan Valley have not been getting the results at home in the same way as other years, but they came good on Saturday when Curran B were visitors in NIBA Division Five.

They won by 33 shots and took six points in get their League campaign back on track.

Despite lifting two fours Brett Kirk was just level 11-11 at ten ends, but a five and a four at 14 and 15 ends put Valley 21-12 up and they went on to win by eight shots. Down 4-9 at the tenth Jeff Fawcus came back to 11-12 at 15 ends thanks to two threes. Valley were 13-16 at 19 ends and lost by three shots.

A three at the opening end helped Wilfie Benson to a 14-3 lead at the tenth and two more threes made it 23-4 at 15 ends. A three at 18 ends made it 27-6 and Valley won by 19 shots. Despite lifting a four Jim Kinkead was 8-9 down at the tenth and a four, followed by a seven at 14 ends made it 21-10 and Valley won by nine shots.

Dromore pushed Dundonald on all the rinks but in the end could only manage a point from an eight shots defeat in NIBA Division One.

It was close throughout but Robert Greer lost by two shots and Gavin Clinghan was only four shots down.

Sammy Malcolmson dropped eight shots over the last three ends to lose by four shots but James McKenny got the only win - by two shots - and perhaps Dromore deserved more.
