NEWINGTON 2

UNITED boss John Fall admitted this was a crazy game and that it was the first time in his management career in which he witnessed four players sent off from the one team.

And although the big talking point was four Newington men getting the line - three of them were straight red cards - Fall didn’t want to dwell on the opposition and was keen to emphasis the good things about his own team.

He was particularly pleased that Eoin Bradley hit the goal trail by grabbing a hat-trick.

United fell behind in the tenth minute to a Conal Burns goal but within five minutes Eoin Bradley was on target to level the scores.

In an action-packed first half, Neil Quinn put the Belfast side ahead in the 22nd minute before Bradley grabbed his second for United in the 29th minute and within five minutes Ballymoney were 3-2 ahead and Bradley had his hat-trick under his belt.

Amazingly Newington had four men sent off in the 42nd, 57th, 71st and 85th minutes and United also had three players booked.

Ballymoney did not make the game safe until the 77th minute when Diarmuid Larkin netted and the fifth goal came in the 88th minute courtesy of Cahal Higgins.

Earlier in the week, Ballymoney lost 3-1 at home to Chimney Corner despite taking a sixth minute lead with a goal from Larkin before they conceded a triple burst in a five minute spell in the second half.

Glebe lost 3-1 away to Banbridge Town on Saturday with Alan Sheppard grabbing Rangers’ goal.

Ballymoney are away to Orangefield in the Steel & Sons Cup this Saturday and Glebe are away to Grove United in the same competition.
